The Beehouse has now completed the final phase of a 3 and a half hour video production with incidental music for the Powys Regeneration Partnership. The PRP was set up to oversee the development, management and implementation of projects in Powys funded by the EU and is being released in English and Welsh.  Mantra CDs and Recording (T/A The Beehouse) was successful in winning the contract to produce the video last year and has been filming a variety of different projects throught the Winter. Although filming through some of the most inclement weather conditions possible, the end results have been all the more stunning in the variety of landscape colour and atmosphere as a result. The Video explores the considerable achievements of those businesses that have secured help through the PRP Rural Development Plan. It provides a snapshot of some of the initiatives involved, with interviews and a commentary, to an accompaniment of original classical and neo-classical music produced at the studio. The video production crew, headed by Philip Lane has been all over Powys interviewing business owners who have benefited from being part of the scheme. Interviews have taken place in both English and Welsh. The project is divided into 16 parts, including Taste of Powys, Wild and Green Tourism, Low Carbon Communities, Festivals and Events, Chance to Create, Leaping Stiles and many more. Meinir Jones of Meta Translations has recently attended the studio to record the translations (see picture). The English script was developed and narration was carried out by Jane Lane from the Beehouse. Background Music The video contains many examples of background music and classical exerpts developed by Lane and Lane and licensed for use in the project, and also showcases a growing area of expertise in video editing, soundtrack production and commercial music. Scripting The scripting of the video was carried out by Jane Lane based on information provided by the PRP. Video Quality The video is shot in HD quality and will be available on Youtube as well as throughout Council buildings and on the relevant websites for each project. All videos will shortly be available bilingually on  the Youtube Channel "Noochoon" at this link.

George Hollyhead uploads to Youtube She SaidGeorge Hollyhead first visited the recording studio in January 2010 during the phenomenally bad ice and winter weather when he and his father walked in out of three foot deep snowdrifts, and we have been amazed ever since! His latest recording She Said , is now available at this link on Youtube, on Noochoon's Video Channel. This is a recording he made here at Recording Studio of a song called 'She Said' a popular song in China where George lives and works. This is just an example of more to come from George, who records regularly at the Beehouse who manages to combine  stunning vocals and performance skills with his unique talent in Mandarin Chinese. George records bi-lingually, both in English and Chinese, and sounds equally good in both. We are considering re-naming the studio "Two Dragons Studio"

Railway Pensions Audio CD Newsletter
Phil is busy in the studio this week doing the final edit of the Railway Pensions Audio CD. This is one of our regular contracts - recording, producing and duplicating the Audio CD which is sent out to partially sighted members of the Railway pensions scheme who would have difficulty reading their printed newsletter. Penfriend, as the newsletter is called, incorporates the Pensions news and a summary of their accounts, news and articles of interest for and contributed by railway pensioners. We have 2 local actors who come into the studio to record the newsletter, Sharon Calder and Tony Skeggs. The CDs contain excerpts of music written by Jane Lane and produced by Lane and Lane Music. This is our 4th year successfully producing the Penfriend Audio CD bi-annually at The Beehouse, and demonstrates the breadth of the professional audio projects Mantra CDs and Recording takes on here in the studio.

Stephen Richardsen Back To The BeehouseStephen Richardsen has been back in the Studio this week. Down from South Shields in the North East for his 5th visit he's here putting together some tracks for his new album. He's hoping to put down around 10 - 12 tracks so he may be with us for some time! He is essentially a singer/songwriter but has been known to get out his guitar on occasion, and many of his tracks are guitar based. Piano parts are then added by Jane and the overall production brought together by Phil. Stephen is involved with Christian missions around the country and uses his music to minister to congregations. He hopes not only to record his album but to put together a couple of his tracks into song book form for worshippers to sing from during their own services. With a background in diving, with all its associated risks and dangers and having recently experienced what can only be described as a terrifying near death experience he says he enjoys coming down to us here in Wales where he feels he can relax in our friendly and down to earth environment.

Rock Off and Die You may not find out very much about the elusive Molan Spectrum from their website. Still, some things are best left unsaid. Search the website for clues, if you're curious that way.....

To avoid falling under the hypnotic spell of the abysmal catastrophe,go direct to
the inner sanctum, and view their salacious offering, "Rock Off and Die" directly on your computer. A tale of spurned love and business deals with a very unlikely ending. Frustratingly addictive.

Or see it on Youtube at this link : Rock Off and Die.

The only pop video you'll see where the furniture also smoulders, in the deeply unsavoury setting of a transport cafe.

Rock Off and Die is an eclectic masterpiece featuring the oddly endearing vocals of Sir Dangerous Dave. Once infected, you'll need to hear those inspiring lyrics again and again to chant to your boss, unloved ones or just yourself on an off day. DeLorean fans and other anachronistic idolisers will appreciate the appearance of not one, but four of the legendary car icons, and their disappearance into broad daylight in a stream of fire.

Unfortunately, once heard, you won't be able to resist requesting this track to play to all your nearest and dearest at time of family crisis.

Look out for the sequel :

"Hit the Floor"

in which Dave exploits the Scandinavian clubbing market with a brilliant dance track which is bound to irritate - chafe even.

Busy Bees at The Beehouse We’ve had a busy few months here at The Beehouse. To ensure we are providing the best possible music production The Beehouse Recording Studio has recently undergone a major revamp, reorientation and technical upgrade. We have been fortunate enough to acquire the main monitoring system from the now defunct Forge Studios in Oswestry. They are super high quality dynaudio M3A’s as used by The Prodigy. We have upgraded the soundcards to Mark of The Unicorn – MOTU 2408 mk 3 which now gives us full 96 ktz capability throughout the entire recording, mixing and mastering process. Our front end is a fully loaded Yamaha 02R96 mixing desk with up to 72 channels of digital and analogue inputs. Recording is still done using Cubase SX3 and Protools but is soon to be upgraded to Cubase 5.

To assist Phil in the Studio we have enlisted the help of music producer Tony Skeggs (renowned singer songwriter) to help us with the ever increasing number of Recording Studio Experiences. Tony not only comes to us with his wealth of expertise but brings his own inimitable style and sense of fun to proceedings.

Over the past few months we have been very excited to have had Molan Spectrum in the Studio. An amazing new innovative musical collaboration consisting of several vocalists producing songs written by Molan songwriter Jan Mosiewicz and developed by Lane & Lane Music. On the brink of release is the new single ‘Rock off and Die’ by Molan Spectrum featuring Dangerous Dave on vocals. The video to accompany the release of the single is currently in production. The studio has been inundated with Recording Studio Experiences - vocalists, songwriters, drummers and bands from all over the country all of whom have been a joy to meet and work with. We have been amazed by some of the impressive talents we have come across, many of whom we have requested back to work on other projects with us

Professional Recording Session I just had a very productive 2 days here, getting four songs done. I'm incredibly pleased with the results. My only regret is that I can't stay for longer and keep working! There is no lack of experience or creativity to be found here and I would recommend it to all.

Some brilliant, wonderfully memorable tracks from a talented songwriter..... Look out for them on Noochoon

Songwriter sessionsI was given a 10 hour recording experience - an absolutely fantastic present from my three great children. It has been a briliant experience and great chance to record some of my favourite songs using high quality equipment and real expertise and musicianship from Phil.

Song production at the Beehouse ....Phil Lane, the Beehouse Production Engineer, whom I only met last May and whose genius has most to do with this album. Whilst I wrote the words and original music, it is he who gave them life. Of course he is infuriating. He seems able to play any instrument he chooses and is predominantly self-taught. He intuitively knows what rhythm and instruments to go for and seems to have an almost encyclopaedic memory for sound and its origin. He has been a joy to work with, and his arrangements and production underline his amazing talent.

Songwriting Workshop I had three sessions will Phil producing a song which i wrote. Within those 3 sessions I saw the song develop and was most encouraged with what was done. I am so happy with the result and I intend to put a album together with other songs which I have written. In all I had a great time and I have definitely come away encouraged to write more songs for the future.

Loved every minute

Thanks Phil and Jane

Steve, South Shields

Song Development at the Beehouse Many thanks for a very productive & enjoyable day's recording. Clive and I have been songwriting together for a number of years. I think for songwriters who would like to develop their material and produce a strong and original recording, I would recommend working with Beehouse Studio. Not only is Phil a very experienced engineer, I particularly appreciated his intuitive and sensitive approach to the process of producing, creating a unique soundscape that brought out the individuality of the song and through careful and attentive guidance, bringing the best out of the performance. I would certainly want to come back to produce and record further material.

David O'Brien Viola and Piano Day in a Recording Studio A wonderful sixteenth birthday present! Me and my sister recorded a viola/piano composition as well as singing Alanis Morrissette's "Ironic". Both turned out very well with the help of Phil and we even had time at the end for my dad to spontaneously record an interesting version of "Sealed with a Kiss".

Songwriting Workshop

Had a brilliant day, surpassed my expectations. Totally thrilled with the tracks that I have from the day, thankyou .
